PROFILE

As Helios Constructors General Manager, Jim is responsible for safely delivering client solutions on-time and with quality. Helios focuses on all aspects of renewables concentrating primarily in construction of solar energy facilities. Current expansion strategies include offering engineering and site development services starting in 2022.

Jim is a Professional Engineer with over 30 years of utility, construction, engineering, supply chain, facilities, and project management experience. He has demonstrated excellence in leadership of project planning and execution, collaborating with customers to implement creative solutions with quality. Jim has been recognized for his ability to innovatively lead and coach teams to efficiently achieve quality results.

Prior to creating Helios, Jim consulted for several utility energy companies in the Chicago area. His previous experience includes extensive ComEd Real Estate and Facilities Project Development team management, driving results including a $125M urban site consolidation in the City of Chicago. This project included a LEED Platinum utility headquarters building and state-of-the-art storeroom supplying critical utility infrastructure equipment. His combined project leadership included management of $500M to manage ground-up developments. This included construction of the two largest ComEd training centers and vehicle/material storage buildings totaling over 150,000 square feet of ground-up development and 1 million square feet of improvement work at critical operating facilities. By engaging multiple internal and external stakeholders, Jim led a team of 25 individuals partnering with over 50 vendors to complete projects at 52 properties across the ComEd portfolio. Jim’s leadership drove early strategic planning and capital allocations through design development to project execution.

Outside of his extensive clean energy real estate and facilities project management experience, Jim served on the City of Lake Forest Building Review Board. In this position, he worked to preserve the character of the neighborhoods in the City and supported several boards and committees, including the Construction Committee for development of a new school. He has also served on his local Homeowner Association board, volunteered for the Lake Forest Caucus, and enjoys spending time volunteering for non-profit organizations.

Helios focuses on utility-scale projects from 3 to 20 MW, offering a team of experienced professionals in the utility and renewables field to provide cost-competitive solutions for large scale clients, satisfying not only their energy needs but also supporting achievement of their clean energy goals. Current projects include twelve (12) solar power plant sites in four (4) states for industry-leading clean energy companies. These companies rank among the largest emissions-free renewable energy generators, helping our environment and nation achieve our collective clean energy goals.
